Lightning surge testing

The Lightning Technology Center is the only one testing laboratory specialized for lightning in Japan. Several world-class test facilities are installed in this Center, which have been designed and operated by our own technologies based on OTOWA’s experiences for many years as lightning protection specialist. The research and development of lightning protection equipments are carried out and evaluation testing for the various types of electric devices are also made in this Center. In addition, our Center can provide testing service to the customer in accordance with JIS & IEC standards.

The influence of lightning surge can be verified by using actual house, equipment, wiring and electric appliances.

◇Kitadaito EXPOSURE TESTING FIELD（Okinawa）: This facility conducts long-term exposure tests of outdoor facilities, mainly for electric power and communications in a harsh natural environment for the purpose of developing superior products in Kitadaito Village, which is said to have the most severe weather conditions in the Okinawa Prefecture. As a result, it is a comprehensive exposure test site where durability evaluation and performance verification against things such as salt damage, wind, rain and ultraviolet rays can be conducted.
